Youth Exploitation

Used. Lied To. Left Behind. We Are Rising Against It. In Uganda, the youth are the largest and most powerful population—but we are the most exploited. Politicians remember us only during elections. They praise us in speeches, promise us jobs, and call us “the leaders of tomorrow.” But once they win, we are forgotten, ignored, and left to struggle alone.

“They don’t see us as leaders—they see us as numbers to exploit.”

How Politicians Use and Dump Us

  • We’re used for campaign rallies, social media clout, and political mobilization—then discarded.
  • We are promised jobs, capital, and inclusion—only to be denied once the elections end.
  • Young activists and organizers are harassed, intimidated, or bought off.
  • Youth programs and appointments go to the politically connected, not those in real need.

Corruption & False Promises

Corruption is at the heart of youth exploitation. Programs meant for youth are looted, politicized, or never implemented. Many of us apply, wait, and follow procedures—but never receive any support.

Empty promises we’ve heard too many times:

  • “We will create one million jobs.”
  • “Every youth will receive capital to start a business.”
  • “This time, things will be different.”

“We are not poor because we’re lazy. We are poor because we were denied opportunity.”

What We Are Doing

The National Youth Movement is building power—not just hope. We are:

  • Exposing political lies and broken promises
  • Training youth to organize beyond elections
  • Demanding transparency in youth programs and funding
  • Refusing to be silenced, bribed, or manipulated

“We are not campaign tools. We are citizens. And we are rising.”

What We Demand

  • Real youth leadership—not photo ops or puppets
  • Fair and transparent access to youth programs
  • Justice for marginalized and abandoned youth
  • Opportunities based on merit, not political loyalty
